It’s early morning but not as early as it should be! I’m already running behind and at this rate, my son is going to be more than a little late for school. Everything this morning has been putting us behind time, as I finish up packing his school bag for him, I spot a consent form he’s not asked me to sign, his hairs all sticking up at the back, we’re definatley late by the time we leave the front door. It’s a pretty cold morning and I know the Peugeot doesn’t usually fare well when it comes to cold starts but while my boy climbs into the back seat and buckles up, I don’t worry him with adult problems and cheerfully work to get the engine running and hope we can make up some lost time on the road. I try to reassure him in the back as he starts to look worried. On the outside I’m happy and cheery - pleading with the car to start. On the side however is a different story, I’m growing more and more annoyed with the car, cursing under my breath and pumping the pedals harder, faster. Time goes by way too quickly and we’re soon at the point where I really need to inform the school on how late we will be, hating to look like the bad, unorganised parent, I give the car one last hard push…
